Deconstruction and Theology of the Cross

並列摘要

This article opens a new horizon via interpreting Paul's theology of the Cross from his experience in eyesight loss. Jews search for "signs" and Greeks look for "wisdom". Both are rational attitudes. But from the perspective of the Cross of God, there is no sign and wisdom. The author places the "logic" of theology of the Cross under the horizon of deconstructive thoughts, and constructs a deconstructive theology which is compatible with theology of the Cross. This destructive theology criticizes visual-centered thoughts. The "logic" of the Cross can only be "para-logic": foolish, which is different from an visual-centered eyesight of faith. Therefore, believers need to be "blind" from a point of de-visualization. Paradoxically speaking, the cross is the horizon of the blind and the horizon provides a new, incomprehensible and impossible experience about "the Otherness."
