The development of technology has brought numerous changes to the media landscape in Taiwan. Among these changes, watching live streaming video has become one of the most remarkable trends in the current media environment. Live streaming trends have changed political talk shows significantly. Traditional, online media or even political parties have started producing live streaming talk shows on various online platforms. This study takes a live streaming talk show, “Dr. Peng Watches the Wind” in Yahoo TV as a case study, aiming to analyze the current live streaming talk shows in Taiwan. In-depth interviews and participant observations were employed and explored how online streaming technologies and culture impacts the media’s organizational structure, media content and viewers’ behavior. Based on para-social interaction theory, research results revealed that the participants have different levels and types of para-social interactions with the show hosts and moderator. Second, the participants watched the messages in the live chat rooms when they watched the live streaming video. Third, this study confirms that the participants generated "cognitive interactions" on the messages from other participants, and it becomes one of the factors that determine whether they are willing to participate next time.
