The purpose of this study is to explore the correlation between nursing caregiver's health awareness and healthy behavior, to understand the health awareness of nursing staff, health behavior status. The results of the study are expected to help provide medical institutions and related units to improve promotion of nursing staff health behavior. In this study, the questionnaire is used, and the nursing staff of a psychiatric hospital in central China are the research subjects. The research tools were self-designed questionnaires, which consisted of: (1) basic personal data sheet, (2) Chinese health literacy assessment summary scale, (3) health behavior scale. The questionnaire was checked by five experts for validity and 30 pilot tests were collected. Data analysis adapts SPSS18.0, including basic data, Chinese health knowledge assessment simple scale and health knowledge energy table descriptive statistics, independent T-check, card verification, ANOVA and other discussions. 200 questionnaires were sent out, and 188 valid questionnaires collected, 94% of return rate. The results showed that nursing staff were highly health-aware, with low percentage of them smoking, drinking and betel nut chewing, but 58% of nursing staff did not have exercise habits, and up to 91.5% did not consume enough fruits and vegetables. The statistics also showed nursing staff health awareness is not significantly related to healthy behavior. The findings of this study suggests that hospitals can create a healthy environment, maintain and promote the health of nursing staff. Supervisors at all levels should take the initiative to care about the health conditions of employees, timely giving nursing staff work-and-life support, encouraging nursing staff to learn to look at their health conditions positively, and cultivate good health behavior habits. It is hoped to help provide reference for medical institutions and related units to promote the health behavior of caregivers.
