摘要

本文旨在探討於歷史發展的洪流中，科技和休閒活動是如何在不同社會文化的背景下形成相互衝擊的效果。亦即是探究當處於不同的社會文化條件下，科技的演變是如何地影響和衝擊人們對休閒活動本身的需求和發展；以及討論社會大眾對休閒活動的需求，是如何在快速科技發展的現代化社會中，產生緊迫轉變的必要性。譬如，以前的人放假就可以把工作拋在腦後，現在有了大哥大、呼叫器和電腦，工作可以帶著走。因此，我們的工作和家庭生活交織得難分難解」（張美惠，2001，頁20）。這些與工作性質有關的科技產品亦使休閒和工作時間不易被區隔出來。故無可置否地，「工作」乃是連繫科技、休閒和社會文化結構的因子中最具影響力者，畢竟休閒的定義和本質是與工作本身緊緊地相扣。因此對於工作結構在社會科技型態轉變下，是如何深切地影響人類選擇於日常生活中所從事的休閒模式，即是本文所要探討的重點。簡言之，本文希望藉由批判性地分析休閒、科技與社會文化結構三者在歷史發展的脈絡中，帶來何種正負面的衝擊和影響，進而可使人們於高科技發展的現代社會環境中，自省性地體驗出有益於身心的休閒遊憩活動。

The article aims to explore how technologies and leisure activities have historically impacted each other within different socio-cultural backgrounds. That is, this paper discusses how dynamic changes of technologies, under different conditions of socio-cultural structures, have dramatically influenced and re-directed the developments of leisure activities in the everyday life of human beings. In order to realize the inter-dependent relationships among technology, leisure, and society, it is of course necessary to examine the significant roles of work, because (1) the development of technology have influentially stimulated structural transformations of work and (2) work and leisure are closely related in people's daily activities Therefore, it is important to critically understand the interdependent relationships among technology, leisure, and society if people want to enjoy a beneficial leisure activity in the so-called ”high-technology” society.
