In Shimen District of New Taipei City, there used to be large areas of green and golden rice fields. However, after the fallow policy, there are now stone terraces. Due to the exodus of young people in rural areas, the community left behind the old farmers who continued to bend down to go down to the fields. In recent years, people’s leisure needs, unique rural planting experiences, beautiful rural landscapes, and educational farming schools have gradually become another effective measure for rural transformation. This article attempts to take agriculture in Shimen Township, New Taipei City as an example, compare the past fallow policy with the current development of rural tourism, discuss the impact of two rural transformation measures on farmers’ lives, and look forward to the future development strategies of my country’s agriculture.
