經濟全球化對臺灣勞工權益之影響－以勞工薪資變化為例(1980-2000)

本論文意欲從勞工薪資的變化軌跡,探討經濟全球化現象在過去20年(1980-2000)對臺灣地區不同產業的勞工權益產生何種影響。藉由時間序列模型(time-series model)分析，作者發現臺灣地區不同特色之企業體，其勞工薪資會受到經濟全球化現象不同程度之衝動。以國際貿易導向為其主要訂單來源之企業體而言，其勞工薪資會深受經濟全球化之負面影響，兩者產生反向變化的效益。至於以國內市場導向為主要服務對象之企業體，其勞工薪資較不會受到經濟全球化現象之起伏衝擊。實證研究結果顯示，世界體系理論(world system theory)與依賴理論(dependency theory)比現代化理論(modernization theory)的政治經濟思想論述，更能有效解釋經濟全球化對臺灣地區的勞工所產生的實際衝擊。

Using a time-series model to examine how economic globalization affected Taiwanese workers’ wages during 1980-2000, the author found that for international trade-oriented industries, economic globalization had significant negative effects on workers’ wages. For those industries’ whose products or services sold mainly to a domestic market, economic globalization didn’t have any significant effect on workers’ wages. The statistical results are robust. They suggest that dependency theory/world systems theory, rather than modernization theory, provides a better explanation and prediction for the effect of economic globalization on workers’ lives in Taiwan.
