This paper is a study of the governing way of Chuang-tzu. If we accept that the philosophy of Chuang-tzu is not only a theory for keeping in long life, and that the philosophy of Chuang-tzu is also concerned about the life of other people, we have good reason to discuss what the governing way of Chuang-tzu really is. The governing way of Chuang-tzu is the way that Chuang-tzu believed could finish up the chaos caused by war. Because of the book Chuang-tzu was finished by neither one man nor a short period of time, it includes three different governing ways in: The governing way of a wise ruler. The governing way of Huang-Lao. The governing way of anti-governance. Besides analyzing these three governing ways in “Chuang-tzu,” the present paper attempts to prove that the governing way of a wise ruler is the one most representative of the thought of Chuang-tzu himself.
