Desmoplastic fibromas are rare, benign bone tumors that histologically resemble desmoid tumors of the soft tissue. Most examples of desmoplastic fibromas of the bone are discovered in patients younger than 30 years, and there is no gender predilection. A desmoplastic fibroma may involve any bone but is most frequent in the mandible. It often behaves in a locally aggressive fashion with extensive bone destruction and soft-tissue extension. Metastases do not occur, and the long-term prognosis is good. The surgical approach to the tumor has been a source of controversy. The following is a report of a case of desmoplastic fibroma of the mandible. We present the features, treatment, and prognosis of the lesion which can be used as a reference.
