This thesis investigates relationship between personality traits and job stress of MIS professionals. Samples were randomly selected from the members of Information Management Association of R.O.C. (IMA) and alumni of MIS department, Graduate School, National Pingtung University of Science & Technology (NPUST). All data were collected by a questionnaire survey. Tendency of resignation, job fatigue, level of melancholy, anxious and low self-esteem were used for measuring job stress level. Various scales and inventories were used in the questionnaire, including: Internal-External Control Scale, Type A/B inventory and Job Stress Scale. There exists a significant relationship between personality trait and subordinates job stress. Both Type A/B and locus of control were found to be good predictors for job stress. The extent of stress MIS professionals feel depends on the industry which they are in.
