摘要

傳統以來圖書館的專業重視資訊的擷取，而忽略資訊內容對讀者的意義與價值。圖書館如僅是滿足讀者的資訊需求，在提升其資訊素養等方面著力，則似仍有所不足。事實上，新時代之公共圖書館若要真正落實「知書」與「知人」的核心服務理念，則應更進一步瞭解讀者在閱讀過程中所產生的情緒感受，重視讀者的閱讀需求及閱讀心理的研究，並施行閱讀指導服務，方能提供讀者更完善的個人化服務。

Traditionally, libraries have put much more emphasis on information access than information content. The emphasis on access has led the library field to consider information as an object, and in turn librarians overlook the values that people attach to the content of information. Actually, public library is a reading institution. To reinvent the profession, reading guidance service should be one of the most valuable of our professionals' responsibility.
