From 1980s, new character education has been an important educational movement in the United States. In this period, they return to the core values. There are many successful experiences in character education documented in research and literature. Those could provide very useful implications to Grade 1-9 Curriculum in Taiwan, especially because the moral education is excluded from that curriculum.. These implications are as follows: 1. New character education in America corresponses to pendulum effect, which is also similar to the development of the moral education in Taiwan. 2. The development of students' character should strongly link to an integration of formal curriculum and hidden curriculum. 3. The collaboration among family, school, and community should be emphasized. 4. It is important to provide experiencing activities for students in character education. 5. It is better to develop students' character in their early stage.
