A no-choice test (force feeding of Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki) undertaken to evaluate the antitermitic effectiveness of seven chemical compounds and three coatings in treating wood. The results are summarized as following: 1. According to the extent of damaged wood. The antitermitic efficacy of chemical compounds and coatings was ranking in the following descenting order: Permethrin; Dursban; C.C.A.; and Antiborer>Barium Chloride+Diammonium Phosphate>Ammonium Silicofluride; Decor Wood Stain>1%>Polyurethane Finish; Nitrocellulose Lacquers>Timbercare 0.5%; Timbercare 0.1%. 2. The Effective antitermitics, among chemical compounds examined in this study, are Permethrin, Dursban, Antiborer, C.C.A.; and Barium Chloride+Diammonium Phosphate. The mechanisms of antitermitics are repelling and killing. Permethrin, Dursban, and Antiborer possess the functions of both repelling and killing. However, C.C.A., and Barium Chloride+Diammonium Phosphate only have the function of killing.
