In response to the dispute over the two dissertations of the Taoyuan City Mayor candidate, the highest politician claimed that "anyone having examined the two papers completely and fully understood the ins and outs of the event, he is willing to choose to believe that Lin Chih-Chien did not plagiarize." This article expresses different viewpoints and illustrates the collapse of academic integrity in Taiwan.
