《遜咖日記》Diary of a Wimpy Kid 歸化與異化翻譯策略之譯評分析

摘要 本論文旨在透過分析《遜咖日記》(Diary of a Wimpy Kid)中譯本,探討兒童、青少年小說在翻譯時所需的考量,並以韋努蒂(Venuti)所提出的歸化、異化翻譯策略做文本分析,進而了解譯者在處理與文化相關的詞語所採用的翻譯策略。本論文先將語料分為翻譯用字、文化因素、文學效果等三大類,再細分為成語、口語、選字、遊戲及節目名稱、書名、台式中文、文字遊戲等八小類,並舉書中近80個例子逐一分析及討論。透過分析結果發現,為了減少讀者在閱讀上的不順暢感,歸化策略的應用較多,但在翻譯文字遊戲時,異化策略則較為適合,所以在翻譯時必須慎選適當的策略。希望藉此研究,能讓更多譯者對於翻譯兒童、青少年讀物有更進一步的了解。 關鍵字:文化詞、兒童文學、青少年文學、翻譯策略、歸化、異化

Abstract This study aims to explore the translation of children’s and young adult literature by analyzing the Chinese version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid through Venuti’s domestication and foreignization translation strategies to understand the translation strategies used by the translator when dealing with cultural-specific words. The corpus used in this study was first divided in three categories: word choices, cultural factors, literature games, and then eight subcategories: idioms, spoken language, word choices, names of American traditional games and TV programs, book titles, Taiwanese Chinese, word play, and nearly 80 examples taken from the books were analyzed and discussed. The results of the study show that domestication was applied more frequently to reduce the strangeness in the books. However, when it comes to word play, foreignization may be a better strategy. Hence, it is important to choose proper strategies for difference translation purposes. It is hoped that the thesis may provide translators with reference for translating children’s and young adult literature and offer them some suggestions.
