Students in network-based learning environments may be assigned their learning path by the results of their learning processes. And students can choose suitable learning materials for their individual difference. The development of distance learning systems can apply relevant theories and technologies to learning diagnosis system. The major purpose of this thesis is to improve the learning results of students. In this thesis, we propose an Internet-based full-loop learning architecture, which is based on Knowledge Map and vector space model for the completion of a learning loop. This work is presented through the application of Knowledge Map to support the adaptive learning in a distance learning environment. The misconceptions of students can be identified by analyzing the concepts in the Knowledge Map and the weights of these concepts. And according to the learning materials adaptively selected from the diagnosis results of the students, their personal learning paths can be established to remedy learning disabilities. The main contribution of this thesis is to improve the traditional method of learning diagnosis and to use an efficient return on learning to improve the learning effectiveness of the students. In this thesis, the first evaluating criterion is using the values of precision, recall and F-measure to verify the effectiveness of the recommended learning materials. The second evaluating criterion is using Type I error and Type II error to test the power of the recommended learning materials. As this approach is experimented with a small group of college students, it can be inferred that this research is worth further studying.
