Research of Teachers’ BMI and Physical Activity towards to Perceived Health Status June,2004 Student:Ke Chih Hsien Advisor:Jiunn Chern Jwo Abstact The main purpose of this research is to compare the differences of teachers’ BMI and physical activity towards to perceived health status. These interviewees are elementary and junior high school teachers in Tucheng city. 362 credible questionnaires were received. Among them, 39% is male which sums up to 141people, while 61% female, 221 people. This survey is composed of basic data, physical activity chart within 3 days, perceived health status chart. The data collected is analyzed in ways of descriptive statistics, t-test, one way- ANOVA, and two way-ANOVA. The results are as follow. 1. Male teachers’ BMIs are obviously higher than those of female teachers. (p<.05) Teachers who have three children whose BMIs are apparently higher than other three groups(p<.05). There is no critical difference when it comes to age and marriage. 2. Teachers whose BMIs reach the status of fat have lowest grades among light, normal, and over-weight groups in perceived health status; (p<.05) while there are no clear differences among light, normal, and over-weight groups. 3. Physical activity of male teachers is higher than that of female. (p<.05) There is no critical difference when it comes to age, marriage and the number of children. 4. Teachers of high physical activity get highest scores at perceived health status comparing to teachers of normal or low physical activity (p<.05). Teachers of normal physical activity get higher scores at perceived health status than teachers of low physical activity (p<.05). 5. When few physical activity, teachers with normal BMI get higher scores than teachers of fat status. (p<.05). Under the circumstances of 4 different BMIs, teachers of high physical activity have highest points at perceived health status. (p<.05) . When it comes to BMIs, teachers at fat status whose perceived health status is apparently lower than that of normal BMIs teachers. In physical activity, teachers of high physical activity whose perceived health status is obviously higher than other two groups.
