It is twenty years since Chu-Kuang Yuan-Ti began in 1974 as a television program for the spiritual and cultural education of its audiences, particularly the military. The program, refined in quality and rich in variety, has greatly helped reconstruct the society in cultural terms. However, much more could be expected of the program: it needs some adjustments to modern TV trends, and should lay greater emphsis upon what constitues the core of Chinese culture. It is in this light that this paper examines Chu-Kuang Yuan-Ti and make recommendations.
