International Competitiveness of SMEs-The Case of the Taiwanese Transformer Industry

中小企業國際競爭力-以台灣變壓器產業為例

摘要


在全球化的趨勢之下,經濟活動越來越趨於世界走向。企業分別將其產品的每個工程,從其最初的結構、研發、量產到市場定位,佈局於全球可以取得較佳利潤的國家或是區域。本研究敘述並探討歸類於消費性電子產品下的台灣變壓器(小型)產業之國際競爭力。當企業全球佈局,必須面對越來越多的競爭者,並且設法突破國際性與區域性的障礙,建立企業之競爭力,而這有賴企業於其母國之成功的專門經驗。根據與高階經理人之深度訪談內容以及文獻探討之鑽石模型與價值鏈,台灣變壓器產業之國際競爭力架構因應而生。研究之目的在於分析決定台灣變壓器產業競爭力之要素。最後,研究之結果將有益於廠商評估審視其未來競爭力之發展。

In the context of globalization, economic activities are becoming more and more global. Each part of production process, from the product's initial formation, research and development, and mass production, to market position, take place in that part of the world where it is most profitable. This paper described and explored the case of competitiveness in the Taiwanese transformer industry as catalogued by the consumer electronics division. As firms go global, they must face more and more competitors and figure out how to break down barriers between international and domestic organizations and begin building the competitiveness that acknowledges their respect for the success and dependence on the home country's expertise. Base on in-depth interviews with CEOs' and base on diamond model and value chain, a framework of international competitiveness to the Taiwanese transformer industry was revealed. Moreover, market niches and target markets of this industry were analyzed in this study. The purpose of this study was to analyze what determines competitiveness for the Taiwanese transformer industry. Finally, this research provided suggests of competitiveness for the industry and hoped the results can be used as a guide for the industry to review and enhance its competitiveness in the future.
