A comparison between myth, Lao Tze and Chuang Tze will achieve the following: first, to find the mythical origin for Taoism; second, to identify Taoism's critic inheritance of myth; and finally to develop a perfect paradigm of synthes for Taoism. This article argues that Chuang Tze's ”round teaching” style will overcome the chaos-returning model of myth and Lao Tze. And by containing the dual possibilities of returning and opening, the round teaching can provide a philosophical model for what I call the ”Modern New Taoism”.
