五專應屆畢業護生、單位主管及護理教師對護理能力滿意度之調查

A Survey of Satisfaction with Nursing Competency among New Junior Nursing College Graduates, Unit Managers, and Nursing Instructors

摘要


護理教育的最終目的之一是培養護生的護理能力,然近年來常聽護理教師、單位主管、甚至應屆畢業護生自評對護理能力表現存有許多負面評價,因此本研究目的旨從五專應屆畢業護生、護理教師及單位主管等不同的角度去探討並比較其對五專應屆畢業護生護理能力表現之滿意度差異。 本橫斷式研究設計採立意取樣,分別以「護理能力量表」收集北部某技術學院161位五專應屆畢業護生、103位護理教師及北部二所教學醫院104位正(副)護理長之意見,並以描述性統計(如平均值、標準差)及推論性統計(如變異數分析、Scheffes'事後比較)等方法分析資料。 結果顯示:(1).三組樣本在「溝通能力」得分最高,在「病危照顧能力」得分均最低;(2).應屆畢業護生自評其護理能力偏向滿意,但護理教師及單位主管對其評價均偏向不滿意;(3).應屆畢業護生自評其整體及各項護理能力之滿意度顯著高於護理教師及單位主管的評價。此研究結果發現,由護理教育系統之觀點來看,應屆畢業護生的整體護理能力均有待提昇,以提升護理服務之品質。另本研究結果可提供護理教育界及醫療院所規劃提升護理能力相關課程之參考。

One of the ultimate goals of nursing education is to cultivate the students' nursing competencies; however, in recent years, we have often heard negative appraisals of nursing competency from unit managers and nursing instructors, as well as the new graduates' self-assessments of their competencies. Therefore, the purposes of this study were to describe and compare the satisfaction with nursing competency from new junior nursing college graduates, unit managers, and nursing instructors. This cross-sechional design with convenient sampling used a valid and reliable self-designed questionnaire, Nursing Competency Scale (NCS), to collect data. Questionnaires were collected from the 161 graduates, 103 nursing faculties, and 104 head nurses, respectively. Descriptive statistics (ie., mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (ie., ANOVA, Scheffes' comparison) were utilized to verify the expected relationships. The results showed (1) all three groups of subjects reported the highest satisfaction in the ”communication” component and the lowest one in the ”critical care” component; (2) nursing graduates reported higher satisfaction for each component and overall competency; however, nursing faculties and unit managers reported lower satisfaction for each component and overall competency; (3) compared to nursing instructors and unit managers, the graduates reported higher satisfaction of competency in each component and a higher overall NCS. These results indicated the overall nursing competency of new graduates should be improved and the findings of this study can provide a framework for nursing educators and hospital administrators to develop further educational programs to improve the quality of patients care.
